Acoustic Panels for Home Gyms and Fitness Studios

A home gym or small fitness studio has a specific noise problem that most acoustic advice doesn't address: it's not just echo from voices, it's impact noise from dropped weights and music bouncing off hard floors and walls.

What's actually noisy about a home gym?

Two separate problems - reverberation (a hard-floored, hard-walled room amplifies every sound) and impact (weights, jumps, equipment). Standard acoustic treatment addresses the first; it does very little for the second, which comes mainly from flooring, not wall panels.

Absorption vs impact resistance

For the echo and general noise bleed into the rest of the house, wood wool or PET felt panels on the walls make a real, noticeable difference. For impact noise from dropped weights, wall treatment won't solve it - that needs proper flooring underlay, which is outside what a wall panel can fix.

Budget vs commercial-grade options

A home gym doesn't need commercial sports-hall specification. PET felt panels on the main noise-bleed wall (usually the one shared with living space or a neighbour) is normally enough for a residential setup. Scale up to full wood wool coverage only if you're running a small studio with regular classes or clients.
