About the material

What is Modified Clay Material?

MCM — also known as Magic Stone or PHOMI — is a next-generation wall cladding material made from natural clay and mineral compounds. Unlike traditional fired ceramics, it is flexible enough to bend around curved surfaces, yet hard and durable enough for exterior facade use.

At 2–3 mm thick and just 3–4 kg/m², it is dramatically lighter than stone, brick or conventional ceramic tile. Installation is faster, transport costs are lower, and it opens up applications impossible with rigid materials — curved walls, columns, arches and complex architectural forms.

Every pattern faithfully recreates the look of natural stone, travertine, slate, concrete or wood — with Class A2 fire rating and full EU certification.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can MCM tiles really bend around curves?

Yes — the Modified Clay Material formula gives the tile a flexible substrate that bends to a minimum radius of approximately 50mm. Suitable for curved walls, columns, arches and any non-flat surface where rigid tiles would crack or require complex cutting.

Are MCM tiles suitable for exterior use?

Yes. MCM tiles carry Class A2 fire rating and are tested for exterior facade use. They are weather resistant, UV stable and frost resistant, making them suitable for ventilated facade systems, balconies, entrance areas and full building exteriors.

How do they install? Do I need a specialist?

MCM tiles install using standard flexible tile adhesive (C2TEs1 class). Any experienced tiler can install them — no specialist tools or training required. They can be cut with a standard tile cutter, angle grinder or sharp knife for thin sections.
